Daloy Politsey
Amidst the historic 2020 uprisings against police violence in the wake of the murders of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, I created this print to move money to Black-led organizations and highlight the deep roots of police abolition in Jewish culture. Over a century ago, dissident Jews in Tsarist Russia took to the streets to protest the police, singing in Yiddish, “Daloy Politsey.” This print blends the protest messages from the streets of yesterday and today as an ongoing commitment to solidarity.
