Pirkei Avot

Confronting the deep historical roots of injustice can feel overwhelming, yet we must persist against long odds if we want to bring about a better world. The ancient Jewish text Pirkei Avot offers wisdom regarding such persistence, “You are not obligated to finish the work, but neither are you free to desist from it” (2:21). By coming together with others we can build power to persevere in the struggle to bring about social change, as Wendi Moore-O’Neal sings, “Organize, organize, organize!”
